Everglades National Park's 50th Anniversary -- To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Everglades National Park in December 1997, Naples Daily News photographer Cameron Gillie and writer Ralf E. "Ted" Kircher paddled a canoe for eight days to explore the length of the Wilderness Waterway, a 100-mile passageway from Everglades City to Flamingo winding through the mangrove estuaries of the western Everglades.
